Monkeys and Mugs

So, I've been doing ALOT of crochetting lately and so far only have one monkey to show for it. I've got two more in the works that I'll hopefully be done soon. My favorite thing about making my sock monkeys is trying to find ways to make them all original. This is the one that I made for Kennedy and it is really sweet if I must say so my self :)

It took me awhile to figure out how to crochett the design right into the monkey instead of adding it on top afterwards and if I did something like it again I would have to make afew tweaks to it but all in all really quite cool. I like the little gold medal I made for it too :)

I also bought one of those "make your mugs" from chapters (I like those ones more then the ones at Starbucks because they have more room inside for dimensional inserts). I used it to make my Dad a new coffee travel coffee mug becuase he uses his other starbucks one everyday so I thought it would be nice to be able to switch it up sometimes.

I love the quote I put on it too... if you know my Dad it's a very him quote (although I think I should have changed it to "Let not the sands of time get into your coffee" instead of lunch :). I also used a picture of Neil Armstrong which is one of the moments in history that my Dad seems to remember the most so it just seemed kind fitting to put in one there.

Anyways, latter days :D

Starry Night

Alright, so I was feeling crafty this morning and since my dad is asking people for pages for his current project I decided to paint something. Now Van Gough's starry Night is one of my all time favorite paintings so I decided to make my own, this is what I made:

I used the Claudine Hellmuth Studio paints mixed with the extra-time medium she has to give it some dimension and to give me extra time to get all the colors on before it dried so they would mix together alittle. Here's a close up:

After that I just painted the riff raff eiffel towel black and sprinkled silver glitter on it while the paint was still wet and 'signed' the bottom corner with my page's title. Pretty sweet if I must say so myself :D

Well thats it for now but I'm still feeling pretty inspired so you might get more soon.

P!nK

I have a confession to make, its been three months since my last hair cut and I've gotten a little shaggy. All that changed tonight though, I took some hair inspiration pictures of Pink (below) and attempted to get at least some variation of her hair ( which I have always pretty much though was sweet) without adding any funky colors. I rediscovered my appreciation for pink during my limited time in style school ( it was pretty much the first lesson and saddly only about as far as I got... Oops :)

The before shot

The pile of hair on the floor...

When its all said and done...

The Comparison Pic...

Honestly I can't wait for it to get just a little longer so I have more to work with but well see how long I actually stick with this instead of putting one of my hats one :)

Today I also noticed my dog found a new place to perch outside to do her sun bathing, she has spots all over the house but this is the first one I've noticed outside. I was just walking by the back door this morning while I was getting ready and took a look outside to see what she was up to... She really makes my day sometimes. I just had to smile when I saw this.

The Weekend Edition

So I've had a pretty full and exciting weekend (something I finally feel worthy of blogging about anyways :)

It all started Friday afternoon when Me and my awesome cousin Alana headed down to Calgary to watch the Flames take on the Devils. Looking at the two team names now that seems strangely fitting. Anyways Alana is just slightly obsessed with Martin Brodeur and this was the first time she got to see him play live so it was very exciting. You can't really see it in my pictures but she is COMPLETELY decked out in Brodeur stuff. Anyways we Stopped at Michaels on our way out of the city and bought smelly markers and poster boards to make signs for the game (I'm rather proud of our finished products :).

She may have gotten a little over excited a couple times during the game, the other fans around us where surprised she didn't fall out of her seat. Seriously they actually said that. Anyways saddly for Alana the Devils lost 5-3 although they came back in the 3rd and made it a really good game. After the game was over we went and stood outside the arena and waited for all the players to get on the bus and cheered holding our signs as they drove away. It was all very fun :)

I then finished off my weekend by going to see 'Alice in Wonderland' in Imax 3-D with Lisa, Russel, Gordon and Chantel. It was pretty good, I didn't actually realize until I was there that it was a sequile to the story and not a remake but I still really enjoyed it. I just have to say I love Helena Bonham Carter more and more in everything \i see her in she's like the female Johnny Depp.

Well thats it for now but I;ll hopefully have more to post soon so 'Latter Days'

Altered Doll Class

So, had my class yesterday and it went awesome, there are some things looking back that I would do differently but thats part of the learning experience. Everyone in the class seemed to have a blast, they were awesome and all very creative. If all classes are as good as this one was I will definatly teach more. Anyways everyone had a pictures taken with their dolls when they were done...Since I had already made two dolls instead of doing another one with the class I used the doll form and made it into a travel mug . It turned out really well, I love it :)

Just The Scraps

So first sorry for it being so long between posts my goal is to write something at least once a week (not a good start but que sera). So I have my first ever class I'm teaching at Treasured Memories tomorrow, it should be fun but alittle stressful none the less. Here's a picture of the last Ten Second Studios metal doll I made, I think I'm going to make a coffee mug tomorrow though (Hopefully I'll post it when I'm done :).

So, I've decided I want to do a little scrapbooking comicstrip because I think they could be fun and there aren't any really out there. I'm pretty sure I want to call it 'Just the Scraps' and it would only be once or twice a month because I can't comit to doodling more often then that or coming up with that many ideas to continue. Here's my first one, let me know what you think :)
