Alright so its been quite awhile since I've posted anything but me and Chan are still doing our crafty mondays and I am creating things I've just been neglecting the blog :(
This last Monday Scarlett wasn't feeling good so I had my crafty monday with my Dad isntead and we played with a soldering iron. Dad's project didn't turn out quite the way he hoped it would but I really like mine:
I just bought a package of mosaic seaglass from Michaels and soldered around all the different pieces I used and then soldered them together. It took a decent amount of time but it looks sweet, I especially like the seahorse I added. I'm not sure if its done yet either.
Well thats all for today,

The Flip Side
This is a place for me to be able to get all my awesome art projects and athletic feats out (as well as everything else in my life). Basically a chance to show all my many sides.

Last Weekend
I love family Holidays, pretty much I just like the chance to hang out and play games (and eat lots of junk food, the begining of soccer season is NOT going to be fun). Anyways Last weekend was Easter and Chan and Gordon took Scarlett to Radium so I was house sitting for them. Their cat Ferrarri is Crazy and this is the sight I arrived to find...
Dang Cat!!!
After I cleaned that little present up I went out to my aunts for family dinner and games. Me and my cousin Aurora owned at teamed Dutch Bliss, (Now accepting new challengers but beware, we're speedy... ;) I also got to enjoy some amazingly decorated cupcakes that my cousin Paula made
So Cute!!! Little Bunny Bums sticking up in the grass :D They also tasted amazing so I may have had more than one...

Inspiration
So, sorry I missed my post last week it was a good one though. Me and Chan drove down to Lethbridge to visit Kara and see her stores grand opening. while we were there she took us to a little farmers market/ restaurant that had AMAZING food, a craft store, and the Jasmine Tea room where we had some specialty drinks and scones with jam and devonshire cream (delicious stuff). We also stopped in Nanton on our way home for the candy store and some antique shopping.
This week was a much more chilled monday. Chan came and picked me up at around noon and then we headed to whyte ave to have some lunch at the Mongolie grill express. After that we went for a bit of a walk down whyte to the junk cellar and chapters/ starbucks (chantel has to earn her specialty coffee's :) After that we went back to Chan's to craft and blog. Unfortunately I forgot my sketch book at home today so I just looked up inspiration online.
I'll also trying to work on drawing people and I think this is the type of style I might go for:
Well that's all for now

The Boob Tube
This tuesday was my cousin Sandee's birthday (Little Happy Birthday shout out there ;) Because of this though I think I've been at her house almost every day this week. Its been alot of fun but let me tell you when I have soccer on Sunday night it is not going to be pretty, way to much cake has been eaten. Anyways she got the first 2 seasons of one of my currently favorite TV shows
I loved it before I watched the complete series of 'Firefly' by the way but I love it and Nathan Fillion even more now that I have. So far this week we have watched the first 5 episodes (I've already seen them all but I'll watch them again so they can catch up to me :) and tonight she's making me dinner and we're plowing through the rest of the season (its only 10 episodes long...)
Another one of my favorite TV shows right now is 'Criminal Minds' which brings me to my secomd shout out of this post... Trina Kison!!!. Trina is fellow mighty Zombie Farmer and Scrapbooker who has started coming and hanging out with us more at the store which we really quite enjoy :) Anyways My absolute favorite character on the show is the tech support lady 'Penelope Garcia' played by Kirsten Vangsness. Tell me they don't look alike...
Honestly they could be twins... well thats all I have to say about and if you don't don't already and you like crime TV you should watch these two because they rock.

Fact or Fiction
Today I am posting to tell you a tale, a very TALL tale, the tale of 'Cranbrook Ed' the one and only wild BC Elephant...
The Story:
Charlie Ed was a small African elephant born in the wild in 1910. He ran away from his Mother and younger sister when times got to tough to became part of the Sells-Floto Circus in 1922, earning a living doing tricks. Life was tough for the young elephant and in the summer of 1926, when the circus traveled to Cranbrook and on August 6th, fourteen elephants, including Charlie Ed, started a revolt over poor working conditions and escaped the circus train into the surrounding forest and down the Canadian Pacific right-of-way. An unusual telegraph message was sent over the wires following thier escape asking all trains heading east to keep a lookout for elephants on the tracks and report their location if seen. When the circus owners offered rewards for the capture of the unruly elephants, the first and only elephant hunt Cranbrook has ever seen was on, and the news spread around the world.
Most of the elephants were quickly re-captured but Charlie Ed and another elephant, rumored to be the young elephants girlfriend Myrtle were still on the loose. Myrtle was found in mid-August but, because of her poor condition didn't make it. Charlie Ed, however remained at large for awhile longer until on September 14th, when his hideout was finally discovered near Jim Smith Lake, about six kilometers southwest of Cranbrook. His trainer reported that Charlie Ed was thinner but still in fine shape and although Charlie and the other elephants had been caught the global publicity helped earn them a better life with the Circus.
Charlie Ed was brought back into town where a celebration followed. He received a last breakfast as a free elephant before he was reinstated into the circus and was then led through the streets of downtown Cranbrook, with one photo opportunity after another. To mark the occasion, Mayor T.M. Roberts and the circus owners re-christened Charlie Ed, declairing his name henceforth to be Cranbrook Ed. An to this day a Statue of this young elephant sits at the entrance of this small BC town to make sure no one forgets the elephants that were lost and what he fought for.
Well that is my tale for the day, hope you all enjoyed it but what do you think, is Cranbrook Ed just another TALL tale on this particular day or is there a shred of truth to this tale... You tell me ;)

Vacation
Sorry my post is a little late but I had an awesome weekend visiting an old friend from college in Cranbrook BC this weekend. It was really nice for acouple of reasons.
1) I haven't seen Ashlee in over a year and a half so it was really exciting to be able to make a long weekend for myself and go hang out with her for a few days. While I was visiting we went around town taking pictures of random things (Maybe a future post ;), visited with her family, went to a stand up comedy act, watched the Junos, and I got to watch a rehersal for a one act play shes going to be in. It was really interesting to see that side of the play, and I might be biased but Ashlee was definatly the best one in the play (along with this really funny really old guy, he rocked :)
2) I absolutely LOVE the mountains and the trip between Edmonton and Cranbrook takes me through one of my favorite stretches of road. The entrance to Radium Hot Springs where they had to blow a path through the mountain, when I drive through that I'm always amazed to be there and be literally surrounded by the mountain. Its amazing. I pulled over acouple times to take pictures on my phone as I went (and got pulled over once too, stupid BC police)
3) It gave me the chance to finish my most recent sock monkey (which was subposed to be her christmas present, just a little late :) Ashlee's nick name in college was 'Rex' so I made her a dinosaur sock monkey with short arms (they don't actually look very short but they're 1/2 the size they should be)
I do have to say I'm happy to be home though too, I probably spent about as much time looking at pictures of Scarlett while I was gone as I would have looking at her if I had been home. I'm such a sucker for that kid, it was nice to be able to show pictures of her off too though :D Well till next post

My New Goal
So I mentioned last week that me and Chantel now have these 'Play Dates' on monday where we get to just hang out and craft with each other. Well I decided to work on a general crafting skill during our play time, and what I decided on was Grafiti. So first thing this morning (After a stop at starbucks of course ;) Me and Chantel headed to Michaels for some new art supplies for me...
\
It actually turned out pretty well, they had a sale on their 'Faber-Castell' art sets where if you buy one you get a second one for a penny, definatly took advantage of that. So anyways when I was looking into the idea of learing Grafiti last week I read that the best place to start was to playing around with basic bubble alphas and alter them in any way you like...
While I was playing around with some different ideas I decided to try to make a paperclip alpha (since doing this I've googled it and think my version is way better then anything I've seen there :)
Personally I think it turned out pretty well, it helped that Chan had a paperclip I could play with while doing this so I could actually see if my ideas would work (and how they would work). If anyone comes up with any better options for the 'k' or 'x' (or really any other letter) please let me know because those two were killer hard to come up with.
Anyways, till next week.
